    Sport psychology dominates research on mindfulness in sports

    Mindfulness has become a large and recognized field within sports research driven by the sports psychology perspective. It is also growing exponentially; currently, there are around 450 mindfulness studies in the field of sports science with a focus on social science and the humanities. Joacim Andersson, associate professor in sports science at the Maömö Department of Sport Sciences, has just compiled a knowledge overview of the state of research around mindfulness in the world of sports.

    Håkan Larsson’s edited collection Learning Movements: New Perspectives of Movement Education (Routledge) provides a societal and epistemological background for new approaches in movement theory and practice. Gunn Helene Engelsrud’s review offers an insightful and elucidative reading, and critical points notwithstanding she concludes her review by asserting that the qualified selection of research makes the book rich and well worth studying and investigating.

    Antologin Fagdidaktik i idræt (Frydenlund), redigerad av Kasper Lasthein Madsen & Annemari Munk Svendsen, presenterar utvalda didaktiska ansatser som kan bana väg för en idrottsundervisning med kvalitet och kontinuitet genom grundskola och gymnasium. Joacim Andersson har läst boken med stort intresse, och hans kunniga recension problematiserar delar av innehållet och pekar på vissa brister, men understryker samtidigt bokens många positiva inspel.
