This essay collection will explore Berlin as a sports city, and the history of sport in Berlin, from a range of historical perspectives (political, social, cultural, diplomatic, environmental, global, media, and others). While we welcome submissions pertaining to Berlin’s history as a host of sport mega-events, we also encourage submissions pertaining to lesser-known histories of sport and physical activity in Berlin.

The editor of this anthology invites previously unpublished papers on social issues in esports. The book is signed for publication with Routledge and already includes 14 chapters organised in four thematic parts: 1) Integrity issues, 2) Physical and mental health, 3) Gender, ethnicity, and social inequality, 4) Ethics and policy. The editor is seeking proposals for chapters that may add to the themes included in this collection.

Call for Papers | Sport, Sex, and Difference: The Struggle for Trans Athletes’ Justice in the 21st Century, Edited Collection for Emerald Publishing | Call ends June 7, 2021
Contributors to this book will document and analyse developments in all levels of sport, from recreational to high performance, using an approach that takes into account trans athletes’ multiple axes of identity and geopolitical locations. We invite scholars at all stages in their careers to send a 200-300 word abstract outlining their proposed chapter by June 7th, 2021. Final chapters will be roughly 5,000 words in length. We particularly welcome submissions from Black, Indigenous, trans, and 2-Spirit authors.

Boxing is understood through a set of pervasive and powerful narratives that are insufficiently challenged in popular and academic encounters with the sport. We ask contributors to this collection to critically examine the narrative misconceptions and tropes of boxing, to expand the narrative resources of the sport by drawing upon diverse disciplinary perspectives on the sport. We invite multidisciplinary approaches where boxing is considered in the broadest sense.

This book provides an opportunity to add to the theoretical and practical understanding of crises in sport organizations through conceptualizing the topics, challenges, issues, and best practices, comprehensive reviews of literature, empirical studies of managing crises, commentary on sport-related crises, and other scholarly inquiries.
