aarhus-mapThe Research Unit for Sport and Body Culture at the Section for Sport Science, Department of Public Health, Aarhus University is seeking applications for an Associate Professor with an expected start as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be part of the Research Unit for Sport and Body Culture. Please find an outline of the unit’s research activities on the Section for Sport Science home page (in Danish).

Candidates should have an international research profile and a sound knowledge of and interest in sport and body culture research. A large scientific production in sport is not essential to be considered for the post. On the contrary, importance will be attached to the professional competence of the applicant in one or more of the fields of arts and social science, e.g. psychology, teaching, philosophy, political science, and that the applicant can present an innovative research plan focusing on the research questions within the field of sport. The applicant must be willing to collaborate across professional borders. The successful candidate is expected to teach on equal terms with colleagues from the section.

For the position, scientific qualifications corresponding to a PhD are required together with other achievements corresponding to those which are expected to be attained while assistant professor.

The conditions of employment are based on the agreement between The Ministry of Finance and The Federation of Graduate Employee Unions. Remuneration will include an additional pension-based bonus of DKK 89.100 (March 2012-level).

The application should include a curriculum vitae, a full list of the applicant’s scientific publications showing which publications the applicant wishes to be included in the assessment, and information about teaching experience. The assessment committee can decide to include material which has not been in the application. In this event, the applicant will be informed and asked to send the material, or else to withdraw the application. Furthermore, the application should include a description of the applicant’s previous research with reference to the enclosed publications, together with a short description of future research plans.
