
It is our special honour to invite you to another event organized by the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, through the Institute of Sports Law, Sports Policies and Sports Diplomacy and the Center for Sports of the University of Rijeka, at the Faculty of Law in Rijeka on Friday, May 29, 2026 – Hybrid event. This is an international scientific conference entitled Women, Children and Youth in Sport – Protection of Fundamental Human Rights, which is held as part of the traditional event 9th Rijeka Day of Sports Law, Sports Policies and Sports Diplomacy.
The conference is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, the Ombudsperson for Gender Equality, the Ombudsperson for Children, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka in partnership with the Croatian Olympic Committee and the Sport&EU Association.
The conference is a combination of experience and research by members of the academic community, stakeholders in the sports system and our celebrated athletes. The program is conceptually divided into two parts, the first with foreign and national scientists who will address the topics of the legal framework of the human rights of female athletes and children, the protection and rights of female athletes to motherhood, aspects of the social and legal protection of female athletes in the European and national context, sexual abuse of children in sports, the protection of children with disabilities in e-sports, a presentation of a study analyzing the biological and chronological age of children and young people, and gender equality in water sports. The second part of the program is a round table on the topic: The right to motherhood, health care and protection of female athletes and the preservation of the right to compete, which will be attended, with others by famous athletes Blanka Vlašić (online), Barbara Matić (married Đinović) and Tihana Nemčić Bojić.
This conference is being held as part of the project “NEMUS: (In)visible Minorities in Sport: Promoting Equality, Inclusion, Rights and Equality” (uniri-iz-25-113), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of Croatia 2021-2026, in cooperation with the Funding Programme of the Faculty of Law of the University of Rijeka through Programme Agreements with the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth.
