
The Department of Sociology, Institute of Sociology and Gender Studies at the German Sport University Cologne announces the availability of a position starting as soon as possible as Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher Ph.D. Candidate) with standard weekly hours of 23 hrs and 54 minutes (60%) as a fixed-term employment.
The position is a qualification position according to the German Act on Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Academia (WissZeitVG), which serves to support the completion of a doctoral degree. This position is limited for the duration of the doctoral procedure, but initially for a maximum period of 3 years.
Your tasks
- Preparing and conducting a research project in the field of parasport.
- Participation in publications, projects and applications for third party funds
- Participation in the departmental main teaching areas (sociology of sport)
- Supervision and examination of theses (Bachelor and Master level)
- Participation in working groups and self administration of the department, and the university
Neccessary
- A first class University degree (Diploma or Master), preferably in sociology, sports science, social science, health science or physical education
- Experience using empirical social science resreach methods and respective analysis software
- Good command of German and very good command of English (writing and speaking)
- Great interest in postgraduate training and sport sociological topics
Desirable
- Experience in parasport, organized performance sport or club sport
- Experience in publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in academic teaching
- Integrity, ability to work in a team and communication skills
- Willingness to learn, self-motivated way of working and a high level of comittment
- International experience
Dependent on qualification, the salary will be up to 13 TV-L German wage classification. For more information on German wage classification see here. The position has a teaching load of 4.5 hrs/week during the term (according to the German system: 2,4 SWS/F 1, NRW Lehrverpflichtungsordnung).
