    Call for Participation | Athletes’ Social Protection: Current Solutions and Future Needs, SOPROS Hybrid Conference | German Sport University Cologne, April 8, 2024

    This event will bring together experts and stakeholders from sport governance, politics and academia at the German Sport University Cologne. The project team is proud to present its Self-Assessment Tools for athletes and stakeholders which aim to systematically assess the current status quo of national policies protecting athletes in Olympic sports against social risks. Current research highlights that different countries have developed various measures and solutions to ensure the social protection of elite athletes. Still, gaps may prevail.

    The POLIS Network aims at a closer cooperation of academics who work in the field of sport politics or who deal with political issues related to sport. After a 1st workshop in Cologne in 2017, followed by several meetings at EASS conferences, workshops in Papendal, Utrecht and Cologne, we want to pick up where we left off in 2020: Renew and deepen our discussions on polity, politics and policies in the field of sport. The workshop will offer the opportunity to present ongoing research, discuss new ideas about collaborative research and identify topics and agendas.

    The Institute of Sociology and Gender Studies at the German Sport University Cologne announces the availability of a position starting as soon as possible as Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher Ph.D. Candidate) during which you will by preparing and conducting a research project in the field of parasport. The position is a qualification position which serves to support the completion of a doctoral degree. This position is limited for the duration of the doctoral procedure, but initially for a maximum period of 3 years.
