Last call for the applications for the AIESEP Board of Directors 2014-2018 are due to December 12, 2013. Regulations and form are available on the AIESEP Website (Members’ corner/Information).

The 2014 AIESEP World Congress will be held in Auckland (NZL) February 10-13. The theme of the Congress is “Educating for active healthy citizens.” Abstract reviewing is on progress. Accepted authors must register by 28 October, 2013; Early-bird registrations close 29 November, 2013. More info on: www.aiesep2014.com.

Additionally, there will be a Pre-Congress Symposium before the AIESEP World Congress on February 9, 2014 inAuckland, NZL organized by the TGfU Special Interest Group “Using TGfU to promote active and healthy citizens”.This special one-day symposium will focus on the latest research and advances in teaching games framed by TGfU approaches. It provides a special opportunity for teachers to mix with leading TGfU experts from around the world. For more information please visit www.tgfu.info

On 16-17 February 2014 (immediately after the AIESEP World congress in Auckland), the University of Canterbury (NZL) will organize an International Symposium on Physical Education & Sport Studies Physical Education and Sport: Current dilemmas and future possibilities’. The 2014 Young Scholar program will offer four grants aiming to support the participation of young researchers to the 2014 AIESEP World Congress in Auckland. The eligibility Criteria are described on the AIESEP Website (click on Awards/Young Scholars). The application, via e-mail, should be addressed to the head of committee (Prof. Bryan McCullick –bamccull@uga.edu) no later than the December 15, 2013.

First call for the 2014 AIESEP Specialist Seminar that will be organized in Timisoara (Romania) on November 7-9, 2014. The theme of this specialist seminar is ‘The Pedagogical Side of Outdoor and Leisure Activities’.  Its purpose is to bring together experts in sport pedagogy, as well as specialists involved in outdoor and leisure activities, in order to create a space for reflection and discussion on how to adapt to society’s increasing interest in this area.  The provisional program is available on http://www.aiesep.ulg.ac.be/pages/future_event.php. Recall: The NAKHE (host), AAHPERDACSMAIESEPAKA, & NAK collaborative conference will be held on January 8 – 12, 2014 at the Bahia Resort Hotel – San Diego, CA (USA). The theme of this major event is “STEPS into the Future: Exploring Opportunities and Facing the Challenges of the 21st Century.” Details are available at www.NAKHE.org.

Deadline for abstracts submission of the 8th ARIS Biennial (Association for the Research on Intervention in Sport) is on December 15, 2013. ARIS is one privileged partner of AIESEP gathering Sport Pedagogy researchers of the French speaking world, open to all nationalities. Conferences & General Information

As you may know Deborah Tannehill will retire from the Physical Education and Sport Sciences Department at the University of Limerick at the end of December. Her retirement party is set for December 12th and while we would love to have you here, we also realize that is most often not feasible. If, however, you would like to help her remember her career in teaching and teacher education by sending a card or greeting or picture or video we would love to add it (them) to the festivities that evening. If you have something to contribute please send it to Missy Parker, PESS Department, University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland. We would appreciate receiving any items by Friday, December 6th if possible. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Missy at missy.parker@ul.ie.  Deborah knows about the party, but does not know about this, so please keep it quiet – if possible. Thank you.

On May 1-3, 2014, in Vila Real (Portugal), the Department of Sport Science, Exercise and Health (DCDES) of theUniversity of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro will propose a congress celebrating the 25 years of its existence. The Congress will be supported by the CIDESD (Portuguese Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health and Human Development). The congress title ‘Congresso de Ciências do Desporto, Exercício e Saúde’ (Congress of Sport Sciences, Exercise and Health) aims to provide a time where national and international experts will present, discuss and exchange ideas in the field of Training, Sport pedagogy, Psychomotricity, Exercise and Health … In addition, original approaches developed in different areas of interest will be presented in thematic sessions, presentations and wokshops with practical applications. 2nd announcement for the 3rd World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts  and 3rd Martial Arts’ Gala, 3rd IMACSSS International Conference that will be organized at the University of Rzeszow, Rzeszów (Poland) on October 15-17, 2014.Contact: e-mail: csma@ur.edu.pl;registration: only via the Congress website (http://wf.univ.rzeszow.pl). Important date: May 31, 2014: deadline for abstract submission.

The 8th World Congress on Science and Football (WCSF2015) is a multidisciplinary congress focusing on five codes of football: Soccer; Rugby; and Australian, American and Gaelic Football. The congress will highlight the newest research results, methodologies and applied approaches. International scientists from the natural, human and social sciences, as well as practitioners, will be gathered to exchange knowledge and participate in a dialogue on mono- and multidisciplinary aspects of football.
