Call for Papers | “Sport in a changing world” | The SVEBI Conference 2021, Malmö University, is postponed until February 10–11, 2022. Call ends November 21, 2021

This Call for Abstracts is presented in English and in Swedish. The conference is organized by the Department of Sport Sciences at Malmö University together with the Center of Research on Welfare, Health and Sport, Halmstad University. As a step towards increased internationalization, all keynotes and one conference track will be in English during the two days. Additionally, representatives from the sports movement as well as physical education teachers will be invited to attend.

The IOC Olympic Studies Centre collaborates with international organizations to raise the visibility of Social Science Research (SSR) in Sport

The SSR Collaboration Platform is an informal “Community of Practice” for international organizations that fund or support SSR in sport integrity matters.The organizations involved engage to share experiences using their collective insights to improve the benefits of SSR, including reducing duplication of research and importantly, improving the way in which SSR is disseminated, understood and adopted by stakeholders in the field of sport.

Call for Papers | “Restart” – Sport After the Covid-19 Lockdown, an edited collection from Common Ground | Call ends January 21, 2021

Following the “first wave” of the Covid-19 global pandemic, which locked down many regions of the globe and led to the cancellation of sport events and fitness facilities around the world, sport began to restart. The associated challenges, costs, successes, and failures of reopening sport and fitness in the Covid-19 era are the focus of our edited collection “Restart” – Sport After the Covid-19 Lockdown in Commonground’s Covid-19 and Sport series.

Vacancies | Four Ph.D. studentships, fully funded, within the Prevention of Fraud in Sports research project at Ghent University. Apply before August 20, 2020

For the PrOFS (Prevention Of Fraud in Sports) research project, we are looking for multiple PhD researchers. The SBO PrOFS project (funded by FWO – Research Foundation Flanders) starts in October 2020 and will run until September 2024. Led by professor Annick Willem, a consortium of researchers of Ghent University and the University of Leuven will study fraud in sports in all its aspects. Please consider applying!

Call for Papers | “Legal System, Regulatory Dynamics, and Governance in Sport”, Special Issue of Journal of Global Sport Management. Call ends January 29, 2021

Legal environments, compliance rules/policies, and other regulatory dynamics are key determinants for governance in sport. Court decisions and new legislations establish external parameters within which sport organizations are operated. Encountering the unprecedented economic hardship caused by the recent pandemic, special consideration will be given to articles discussing the effects of the Covid-19 crisis.

Medierna påverkar i allt större grad samhället, med dess olika delar och aktörer. Denna medialiseringsprocess undersöks i Marit Stub Nybelius’ avhandling med avseende på sportens sfär. Fokus ligger på det internationella skidförbundet (Fédération Internationale de Ski, FIS) som organisation och på medialiseringens inverkan på tävlingsutförandet av sporterna backhoppning och längdåkning på internationell elitnivå.

Call for Papers | Sport and the Corona Crisis, a two-volume book series from Common Ground | Call ends May 20, 2020

In light of the extensive impact on international sport and the differing responses, Common Ground will publish a two-books series on sport and the coronavirus crisis over the next several months. The first book “Time Out” – Sport and the Corona Lockdown will look at the sport reactions to the pandemic during the ongoing global lockdown. The second book “Restart” – Sport After Corona will analyze the consequences of the pandemic for sport.

This special issue invites papers on the intersection between sport and modern diplomacy. The conceptualization of myriad diplomatic conducts and gestures in sport is the key aim of this special issue. In addition to an insightful review of notable cases and incidents, this special issue particularly seeks papers that present sound theoretical underpinnings or/and potentially makes a useful conceptual contribution to sport diplomacy scholarship.
