This thematic collection aims to contribute to the ongoing debate concerning international corporate governance of the sports industry. Contributions should explore current thinking on the governance of both institutional organizations and clubs.

The purpose of the book is to bring together and to compare theoretical and empirical analyses of gendered leadership practices in sport governance and organizations in differing cultural contexts. Such a comprehensive analysis may broaden insights, expand current theorizing and enable new knowledges to emerge.

The association would like to seize the occasion of this annual conference to look forward to the most pressing challenges for the study of sport in Europe, both widely defined. We want to focus our 2016 annual gathering towards the future.

The International Journal of the History of Sport is an international, ranked, peer-reviewed journal which publishes original research contributions to scientific knowledge. All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. Dr. Anna-Maria Strittmatter is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Management at Örebro University since August 2023. She gained her PhD in Sport Management in 2017. Anna-Maria has work experience as General Secretary at the World Snowboard Federation and as event organizer of international snowboard events. Her range of expertise includes sport political processes, sports’ internal organizing, social inclusion in decision making, sustainable development within sports, as well as Olympic legacy and leverage. A special focus is on youth sport and action sports.

Thomas Persson is dividing his time between research on social responsibility and teaching on Human Resource Management and Development. His research on social responsibility goes back to his PhD thesis on Swedish Integration Policy Documents and has evolved over the years to include Good Governance, CSR and Social Capital to more recent studies on social entrepreneurship and innovation.
