Joan Duda, professor of sports and exercise psychology, has been made an honorary doctor at Malmö University. She is internationally known for her research on motivational processes on how to create better experiences of sports for children and teenagers. Follow her Honorary Doctor's Lecture live.

Sara Karlén is a PhD student at the Department of Sports Sciences, Malmö University. Her dissertation project studies football supporters and the Swedish supporter culture with a focus on the visual choreographies, known as tifos, that supporters create. In the past, she has studied sports audiences during the corona pandemic with a focus on football supporters, as well as conflicts between fans and police in the Swedish football landscape. Sara has an educational background in sociology and gender studies.

As a professor in sports pedagogy, you will conduct research, teach, and carry out collaborative activities within the area of sport pedagogy. Professors conduct research 30 per cent of their time; for this position an extra 20 per cent financing is being offered via direct government funding for research, for the first four years. As a professor you will contribute actively to the department’s research environment as a whole by leading research teams and scientific seminars.

The focus of postgraduate education in sport sciences specializing on social sciences and the humanities lies on the various forms of sport and on their past, present and future importance to society. The education program comprises a range of areas from competitive, recreational and experience sports to sport as a school subject including outdoor education, physical recreation and ecological sustainability.

Grounded in Indigenous, borderland, Chicana and Black feminist knowledges as well decolonial thought, Sepandarmaz Mashreghi’s thesis contributes both theoretically and methodologically to the field of sport and exercise in relation to young asylum seekers and migration research. The participatory analysis demonstrates that for the Afghan youth in this study, sport and physical activity was not a distinct entity, rather it was intertwined with various aspects of their lives.

In many countries, riding is considered something for the upper classes, but in Sweden, the sport has gained a prominent place thanks to the riding schools. “Here, it has been in the state's interest that all children should be able to learn to ride,” says Susanna Hedenborg, Malmö University, researcher behind a new study on the development of Swedish riding schools.

Aurélien Daudi is a Ph.D. student at Malmö University. The subject of his research is the thriving domain of social media, particularly the digital culture surrounding fitness which, through the advent of social media, has grown immensely in popularity and appeal, recruiting into its midst young people from all over the world. He posits a dialectical synergy between fitness as a social practice and the governing values at the heart of social media.
