Seksjonen har ansvaret for idrettsmedisin – et bredt fagområde som både forskningsmessig og undervisningsmessig omfatter flere ulike områder. De to viktigste er: 1) Sammenhengen mellom regelmessig fysisk aktivitet og helse, og 2) Helseproblemer knyttet til utøvelse av idrett (f. eks. astma og idrettsskader).

Idrotts- o hälsokonventet 2015 på GIH 26-28 oktober
Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan bjuder för elfte gången in till ett fortbildningskonvent för idrottslärare, hälsopedagoger, fritidspedagoger, förskollärare, tränare och alla andra som är intresserade av hälso- och idrottsfrågor; i arbetslivet, i skolan och på fritiden. Årets datum är mellan den 26 och 28 oktober.
