    Call for Papers | “Recovery and Sustainability of the Sport Sector during the COVID-19 Pandemic”, Special Issue of Sustainability | Call ends April 30, 2021

    In this Special Issue, we invite contributions that examine the impact of COVID-19 on different aspects of the sport sector, illustrate how the sport sector has responded to the pandemic and how recovery can be sustained going forward. Likewise, we welcome studies of how COVID-19 has modified sport habits among the population, and affected the development of sport competitions and sport events, manufacturing and service activities.

    Following the “first wave” of the Covid-19 global pandemic, which locked down many regions of the globe and led to the cancellation of sport events and fitness facilities around the world, sport began to restart. The associated challenges, costs, successes, and failures of reopening sport and fitness in the Covid-19 era are the focus of our edited collection “Restart” – Sport After the Covid-19 Lockdown in Commonground’s Covid-19 and Sport series.

    Unga vittnar om mer stillasittande liv under corona – ny forskning från Malmö universitet

    I våras startade ett forskningsprojekt vid Malmö universitet med syfte att studera coronakrisens effekter på idrott och fysisk aktivitet. – Enkätsvaren vi har fått in visar att unga verkar röra sig mindre, säger Susanna Hedenborg, forskningsledare. Drygt 1100 personer har besvarat enkäten som forskarna skickade ut i april. 31 procent av de yngre mellan 16-20 år svarar att de har varit mindre aktiva under coronapandemin.

    Call for Papers | “Sport Management in Emerging Markets”, Special Issue of Emerging Markets Case Studies. Call ends September 1, 2020

    We welcome submissions of quality discussion-based teaching case studies that examine recent management decisions faced by organizations operating within the sport industry in emerging markets. Cases about decisions related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sport management are encouraged, although this special issue will not focus exclusively on this crisis. The special issue will be published in 2021, for use by instructors globally.

    The aim of this special issue is to explore the impacts of, and future challenges facing, sport from COVID-19. Contributions are welcome from across all settings, exploring all outcomes, and connected with personal, leadership, organisational, management and resourcing issues. We invite contributors to examine conceptually, empirically and theoretically, these impacts and future implications of Covid-19 on sport.

    Inställda mästerskap, permitterade elitidrottare och inställda träningar. Coronakrisen har fått stora konsekvenser för idrottsrörelsen. Ett nytt projekt vid Malmö universitet dokumenterar erfarenheter från idrottsledare, utövare, publik och supportrar. – Delar av elitidrotten har blivit en otroligt stark kommersiell produkt – nu har basen för den i stort sett försvunnit, säger projektledaren Susanna Hedenborg.

    Call for Papers | Sport and the Corona Crisis, a two-volume book series from Common Ground | Call ends May 20, 2020

    In light of the extensive impact on international sport and the differing responses, Common Ground will publish a two-books series on sport and the coronavirus crisis over the next several months. The first book “Time Out” – Sport and the Corona Lockdown will look at the sport reactions to the pandemic during the ongoing global lockdown. The second book “Restart” – Sport After Corona will analyze the consequences of the pandemic for sport.

    Call for Scholarly Commentaries | “Sport and the Coronavirus Crisis”, Special Issue of International Journal of Sport Communication. Call ends April 27, 2020

    This call asks sport-focused scholars to contribute short essays and analyses of how this unfortunate life-altering pandemic has affected the sport industry. For the most part this special issue will be devoted to scholarly commentaries (e.g., perspectives, essays, overviews, analyses, opinions, observations, recommendations, cases, interviews) of how the sport industry has been affected by this pandemic.
