Any person has the right for education and for a quality training that respects fully the cultural identity (UNESCO, 2001).
The purpose of the 2017 AIESEP conference is to provide an opportunity to enhance dialogue between various viewpoints and perspectives with regard to the future of physical education and sport activities in relation to cultures, identities and diversities.
Given the societal developments of the contemporary world, physical educators are faced with the necessity of taking into better account the diversity of participants, whether in physical education at school, within sport organizations, or in the context of leisure or fitness physical activities. Physical activity contexts are more and more subject to the participants’ cultural variations and numerous identities. The 2017 AIESEP Conference offers sport pedagogy researchers an occasion to ponder opportunities and challenges brought about by these new physical education and physical activity contexts. The Conference hosts encourage contributions from different geographical areas and different cultures and promotes dialogue about different research methodologies, and discussions of innovations implemented in various countries. This agenda is put forward from the perspective of promoting better social responsibility and culturally responsive practices in physical education, sports, and physical activities.

Diversity in Physical Education and Sport: Opportunities and Challenges for Sport Pedagogy
The increasing complexity of social and cultural issues calls for educators to reflect on and deepen their understanding of how Physical Education and Sport Activities may provide a more integrated education. The focus of sub-theme 1 will be on pedagogical practices facilitating contextualized learning. It aims at providing analyses and proposals related to (a) how diversity in classrooms or sport settings is taken in account, and (b) how teachers and sport educators provide more inclusive practices through classroom interactions and co-construction of knowledge.
Learner Identities within Physical Education and Sport: Overtaking Inequities
School physical education, sports, leisure and fitness activities offer settings where one finds both equity and inequities related to social class, gender, cultural and linguistic identities. How can one take advantage of these heterogeneities in terms of learning and of the types of activities offered the participants? How may student learning be enhanced?
Cultural Competencies in Teacher and Coach Education
PE teachers and coaches must cope with opportunities and challenges of in an intercultural education context. The focus of sub-theme 3 is to provide insights about how the building of cultural competencies in teacher and coach education develop new capabilities in terms of professional development for the enhancement of inclusion practices.
Inclusion Policies in Physical Education and Sport Practices
Faced with the social and cultural mutations of the contemporary world, local, national and international institutions have committed themselves to a path of change through curriculum innovations and projects. Sub-theme 4 will focus on educational policies in various contexts. What is the developmental impact of such policies for physical education and sport practices? What is the actual impact of such policies on the public health agenda and on health promotion around the world? Does a comparative approach help in drawing new and purposeful directions?

Organization of the AIESEP-ICCE invited symposium
The symposium Physical education and sport coaching : Links and gaps will take place during the conference. It will last 2h30 (2 times 60 minutes of oral presentations + introduction and conclusion). Presenters will be invited by the symposium’s organizers (Prof. Pierre Trudel, ICCE, and Prof. Marc Cloes, AIESEP). They will process directly the abstracts by March 15, 2017. The presenters who would participate to the ‘normal’ programme of the conference are expected to submit their other abstract(s) by following the process described above. If a scholar considers that her/his work could fit to the topic of the symposium, she/he can contact the organizers (email@example.com or Marc.Cloes@ulg.ac.be) by March 1, 2017.
