    Association of Diversity in Sport | Coming Out to Play: The Role of Sexuality in Sport. Live stream from UMass

    The 4th edition of our ADS Sports Talk Series, a panel event covering a current polarizing topic in the sports world,  Coming Out to Play: The Role of Sexuality in Sport will look to examine the current role and effects that sexuality has in sports. The event will be held on campus in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on Wednesday April 9th, 2014 starting at 6PM.

    Moderated by our very own Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management professor, Dr. Nefertiti Walker, ADS will be hosting a panel of experts. Wade Davis is the Executive Director of “You Can Play”.  This organization is world-renowned for leadership in sports social activism campaigns, aiming to eradicate homophobia in sports. Mr. Davis is a former NFL player, who, in 2012, publicly announced that he was gay after his retirement from professional football. Kate Fagan is a columnist and feature writer for multiple entities, including ESPN, espnW, and ESPN the Magazine. Our final panelist, Pat Griffin, Professor Emerita at UMass, has received multiple awards for her work combating homophobia and sexism in sports.
