What is the meaning of talent? What do ancient people and the bible have to do with how we think about talent in the 21st century? And what happens when we deep-dive into the meanings and constructions of how talent is understood today? Does it mean anything at all? In her dissertation, Leah Monsees critically examines the contemporary constructions of talent in sports. Drawing from qualitative research of talent representations in German and Swedish contexts, Monsees explores talent understandings from a variety of angles.

Welcome to the 10th International Symposium on Youth Sport in Ljubljana or on-line. The main goal of the Youth Sport 2021 conference is to discuss on role of youth sport for society recovery after COVID-19 Pandemic. Exchanging findings and good practices on various aspects of youth sport will be an excellent platform for participants to discuss various topics. The conference is set as a complementary event to celebrate Slovenia’s presidency of the Council of EU.

Et mål for forskningsprosjektet er å undersøke konsekvensene av den tydelige profesjonaliseringen som foregår i spillerutviklingen i norsk fotball. Norge henger forskningsmessig etter andre land innenfor tematikken «talentutvikling». Det vil derfor være av interesse å kontrastere funnene våre med studier gjort i andre land, som f.eks. Tyskland, England og Spania, men også til våre naboland Sverige, Danmark og Island.

Men kursen kan även vara ett steg för dig som vill fortsätta dina studier på en avancerad nivå – antingen för en mera generell fördjupning och en fortsättning mot forskarstudier eller för att rikta studierna mot en tydligare framtida yrkesroll.

Kenneth Aggerholm is professor at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. His research areas are the philosophy of sport and sport pedagogy, with special attention to human science approaches to experience, Bildung, practising and development in sport, physical education, and adapted physical activity (APA). He is president of the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport (IAPS) and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport and Sport Ethics and Philosophy.
