The editorial board of the ISLJ is inviting you to submit abstracts for its second ISLJ Annual Conference on International Sports Law. The ISLJ, published by Springer in collaboration with Asser Press, is the leading academic publication in the field of international sports law. Its readership includes academics and many practitioners active in the field. This call is open to researchers as well as practitioners.

The football collective conference theme for 2018 is challenging the narrative. We welcome papers and presentations that will challenge myths and misconceptions, commonly held attitudes and positions. As the gap between fans and bodies (including clubs) grows wider and financial division within the game becomes more entrenched, critical thinking about the game has never been more necessary.

Known as the ‘people’s game’, no other sport has captured the public imagination in quite the same way as Association Football. Bringing together social science researchers and football practitioners, this conference will examine some of the contemporary challenges facing the ‘people’s game’ and will explore opportunities to address these challenges.

Sessions may reveal how sport and music challenge the social, economic, and political landscape that often illuminate inequities of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, ability, age, and so on. Session submissions may also demonstrate how the relationship between sport and music have influenced career industries such as media and film, event management, marketing & public relations, journalism, fashion, and beyond.

Founded in 2005, the working group aims for a transnational and interdisciplinary exchange of researchers with an interest in the study of sport and gender. The program of the 11th annual meeting focuses on sexism, discrimination, sexual harassment and violence studies in the field of Physical Education and sport, LGBTQ+, as well as leadership and coaches' perspectives.
