Focusing on participation and inclusion in global sports from a historical and modern-day perspective, we look to better understand how and why certain types of people are allowed to participate and others are not. We will expand beyond soccer/football into a cross-section of sports and focus on what is being done to address these inequalities.

As early as the first Olympic Games, sport has moved to the harmonies of music. Across the globe, sport and music occupy the same space to set the tone of a sporting event, serve as a backdrop for a performance, support an athlete in their development and preparation, or facilitate the delivery of fitness training. Sport and music forge communities, imbue national pride, and promote cultural identities.

This symposium offers presentations and discussions on the preparations, performances and experiences from OWG 2018. Speakers include Helge Bartnes, Norway; Peter Reinebo, Sweden; Mika Kojonkoski,Finland; Matthias Felix Gilgien, Norway; Olli Ohtonen, Finland; Stefan Lindinger, Sweden.

The Conference will focus on football as an important social institution playing a rising role in various fields of human activity, and thus contribute to the increased knowledge among scientists specialising in football, as well as to examine the connections between football and politics or broader - social sciences.

Considering the historical and contemporary ties between sport and politics, a one-day conference in New York City in December 2018 will take a closer look at these relationships with a focus on four main topics: Exploitation; Environment; Stereotypes; and Scandals. We invite scholars from across the discipline and from any stage of their career to submit proposals.

Seksjon for kroppsøving og pedagogikk ved Norges idrettshøgskole arrangerer sin syvende forskningskonferanse om kroppsøvingsfaget 7.–8. juni 2018. Kroppsøvingskonferansen avholdes på Norges idrettshøgskole. Hensikten med konferansen er å dele kunnskap om kroppsøvingsfaget i bevegelse gjennom å samles rundt ny forskning, utveksle erfaringer og etablere nye nettverk.

This is an open themed conference. Submissions based on original research are welcomed from UK and overseas scholars and can relate to any aspect of sport, physical recreation, education and culture as considered from an historical perspective.

“Reimagining experience” provides an inter/cross disciplinary platform to explore different ways we come to know, understand, collaborate and communicate autoethnographic research. We have a large number of sessions/slots for presenters to exhibit/present their work, however, this number is not unlimited and when the timetable is full the conference submission will close.

Internationally, Denmark represents an outstanding example of talent development in ice hockey, with the last two decades launching Denmark into international awareness. This conference aims to provide participants with a view into sports psychology, sports sociology, biomechanics and sports medicine. Professionals from all over the world are expected to participate.

The Empower Conference combines fresh thinking with the latest research. With a number of keynote speakers, a choice of afternoon “in focus” sessions, plus the release of Women in Sport’s new research into the visibility of women’s sport in the media, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to learn, discuss and network with peers from the sports and media sectors.
