Call for Papers | “Pushing Boundaries in Enhancement”, 2024 Conference of the International Network for Doping Research (INDR) | Aarhus University, Denmark, August15–16, 2024. Call ends May 31, 2024

We are particularly interested in submissions around past, present, and future considerations of drug use and enhancement in a sporting context that open new perspectives in research, for example on ethical issues, new competition formats, or challenges for athletes. Our two confirmed keynote speakers will address the conference theme from very different angles: Ines Geipel was a victim of the East German doping regime. Aron D’Souza is the President of the Enhanced Games, sports without drug testing.

The aim of the conference is to bring together academics and researchers of all areas of sports. Participants can present on sports topics within broad streams of research areas. This conference has been organized with great success for more than two decades. Since 2000, close to 1,000 researchers have presented their work, coming from 70 different countries.

Sportswashing is a neologism that has become a mainstay of Western media reporting in the last few years, whether in relation to the hosting of sporting mega events, the ownership of professional sports clubs or the sponsorship of high-profile sports tournaments. We require better ways of evaluating the impact (or otherwise) of sportswashing. To address these issues, we will be holding a one-day symposium on Wednesday 29th May 2024 at Loughborough University’s London campus.

The Sport&EU 18th annual conference will take place at ESSCA School of Management in Angers, France, on 25 and 26 June 2024. The organizing committee is now open to receiving proposals for individual papers and pre-composed panels. The deadline to submit your proposals is 31 January 2024, decisions on accepted papers and panels will be made no later than 28 February 2024.
