We are particularly interested in submissions around past, present, and future considerations of drug use and enhancement in a sporting context that open new perspectives in research, for example on ethical issues, new competition formats, or challenges for athletes. Our two confirmed keynote speakers will address the conference theme from very different angles: Ines Geipel was a victim of the East German doping regime. Aron D’Souza is the President of the Enhanced Games, sports without drug testing.

The “Bodies in Motion” conference presents an opportunity for scholars and graduate students to collectively explore and rethink the relationship between bodies, materiality, space and time, thereby enriching the intellectual landscape within these fields and fostering a deeper understanding of our rapidly changing world. Keynote lecture to be delivered by: Kirsten Pai Buick, University of New Mexico.

Related to its mission, “To provide students, scholars, and college sport practitioners a public forum to discuss relevant and timely college sport issues,” this conference will feature cutting-edge research in collegiate athletics, various panel discussions on pertinent issues affecting college athletes, and a keynote address by National Labor Relations Board General Council Jennifer Abruzzo.

The aim of the conference is to bring together academics and researchers of all areas of sports. Participants can present on sports topics within broad streams of research areas. This conference has been organized with great success for more than two decades. Since 2000, close to 1,000 researchers have presented their work, coming from 70 different countries.

Sportswashing is a neologism that has become a mainstay of Western media reporting in the last few years, whether in relation to the hosting of sporting mega events, the ownership of professional sports clubs or the sponsorship of high-profile sports tournaments. We require better ways of evaluating the impact (or otherwise) of sportswashing. To address these issues, we will be holding a one-day symposium on Wednesday 29th May 2024 at Loughborough University’s London campus.

The Sport&EU 18th annual conference will take place at ESSCA School of Management in Angers, France, on 25 and 26 June 2024. The organizing committee is now open to receiving proposals for individual papers and pre-composed panels. The deadline to submit your proposals is 31 January 2024, decisions on accepted papers and panels will be made no later than 28 February 2024.

Discrimination cuts across traditional academic subjects and the ethos behind this conference is to bring together experts from different subject areas to exchange ideas and explore what we can learn from one another.  We welcome presentations about all forms of discrimination across any sporting context, including popular culture.  As in previous years of Sport and Discrimination events, submissions may approach the conference from a variety of perspectives.

The aim of this congress is to improve our understanding of the interactions between individuals and groups that shape more or less interdependent worlds, the dynamics of which set the pace for the globalization of sport and Olympism. Thus, the analytical approach favoured by this congress will pay particular attention to the multiple ways, situations and (re)configurations of making (worlds) of sport and Olympism - be they cultural, political, social or geographical.

Martial arts, combat sports, and all forms of fighting in general, are globally overshadowed by the prejudice of violence and blood, inhabiting a black and degrading zone of irrationality. The conference ON FIGHT, focused on the relationship between Philosophy and Sport, seeks to constitute a horizon for specific or interdisciplinary reflections and contributions, promoting the sharing of research, critical thinking and practice.

Our aim is to bring together sport and exercise psychology researchers and practitioners whose work focuses on social justice and praxis, marginalized communities, participants lacking scholarly attention, or that falls outside the positivist mainstream of sport psychology. A main purpose of this symposium is to bring together people passionate about these issues so that we can share our work as well as support and encourage each other.
