The Research Unit of Movement, Culture and Society (MoCS) at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, Campus in Odense, Denmark, invites applications for an outstanding scholar to be appointed as Associate Professor.
MoCS’ research activities expand within the humanities and social science research. Movement is at the heart of the unit’s work involving experiential, bodily, emotional, cultural and social aspects of movement. Thus, the unit’s research ranges from phenomenological and cultural analyses of movement practices of, among others, parkour, yoga, community dance and improvisational practices to analyses of different sub-cultures of physical activity and their organization. Staff members are part of several international research networks in the fields of phenomenology, sports philosophy, cultural analysis, and sociology.
Applicants must hold a PhD-degree and a research background with relevance for movement practices. Applicants with an interest in and documented experience from any or all of the following will be prioritized:

- Interdisciplinary research using qualitative research methodologies for philosophical/phenomenological and/or sociological analyses
- Research focused on movement practices in, for example, different kinds of sports activities, dance, martial art and/or related activities, for example different kinds of performative activities
- Collaborative research projects 4E (embodied, extended, embedded and enacted) cognition
- Documented experience from publishing in international journals
- A strong record of teaching and mentoring students at BA and MA level
Potential applicants will be expected to teach and supervise student projects at the courses offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences with a focus on both the undergraduate and the Master programs at the Department of Sports Sciences and Biomechanics. A strong teaching portfolio will be valued. The teaching languages are Danish and/or English. External funding can be used towards increased time for research.
