George Jennings’ Reinventing Martial Arts in the 21st Century: Eastern Stimulus, Western Response (Peter Lang Publishing) proposes a new definition of the martial arts to examine how such fighting systems are being re-imagined and reconstructed beyond the arenas of combat and sport in the 21st century Western context. According to our expert reviewer Anna Kavoura, the book offers a substantial and pioneering contribution to the field of martial art studies. (Review in English, published 231123.)

Supporterkraft: Om supporterskapets sosiale potensialer [Supporter power: On the social potential of supportership], by Mads Skauge

When the euphoria has subsided, it is time for reflection. What exactly have we been involved in and what significance does it have? Because now is the time to be a Bodø/Glimt fan. Last week must be the wildest ever, when you go from an away trip and victory in the football-cultural sanctuary of Istanbul, to a gold party in Bodø. Soon it will be the cup final and a new trip to Europe. Does this have any meaning beyond euphoria, toasting and generally the common drunkenness that provides memories for a lifetime? Can this be seen in a larger social context? Is it of any value that crying people stormed the field, or that the family club Glimt showed up at the gold party, where players, employees, the board, journalists and fans celebrated in beautiful fraternity?
