Discursive struggles in the gendering of national team pay in Norwegian football

In 2017, the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) decided to offer the men’s and the women’s national teams an equal share of the revenue from the federation’s sponsorship deals. This was regarded as a groundbreaking event in the history of women’s football. This peer review article by Arve Hjelseth and Jorid Hovden examines the process that led to this result by exploring the discourses of gender justice negotiated in the process. Book Reviews
Wearable Technology in Elite Sport: A Critical Examination, by John Toner

Drawing upon a wide range of interdisciplinary resources, John Toner’s Wearable Technology in Elite Sport: A Critical Examination reveals how wearable devices are used to quantify athletic bodies in ways that have a number of undesirable consequences for the embodied subject. In a collective review, the research group on sport and society, RESPONSE at Nord University, finds much to commend Toner’s efforts, but the critical perspectives promised in the title was sorely and sadly missing, according to our reviewers. Crime and NO punishment: Thoughts on the Use and Abuse of Performance-Enhancing Drugs, by Kjetil K. Haugen

Doping is one of sports major problems. Not everybody agrees to this allegation, some argue that sports are unfair by nature due to talent, genetic and financial differences between athletes. Kjetil Haugen is a game theorist, less interested in ethical considerations, and according to our reviewer of his book Crime and NO punishment: Thoughts on the Use and Abuse of Performance-Enhancing Drugs, Alexis Sossa, a game theoretical approach has much to offer in the study of the use and abuse of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
