Conceptual arguments for and descriptive research exploring sport social work continues to evolve, particularly within the last decade. Due to these advocacy efforts, sport social work has become acknowledged throughout the social work profession and within a variety of sport systems. However, empirical research of social work interventions and practices within sport remains sparce. This special issue of the Sport Social Work Journal seeks submissions of rigorous quantitative, qualitative, and multi-/mixed-methods research.
Ball State University and the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports Release the First Volume of the Sport Social Work Journal
Dr. Matt Moore (Editor) and Dr. Stacy Kratz (Associate Editor) announce the release of the first volume of the Sport Social Work Journal (SSWJ). The mission of SSWJ is to bring attention to the needs of individuals and collectives within the sport and athletic community and to demonstrate how the profession of social work is suited to meet those needs. The journal is also committed to providing information on how the sport and athletic community can advocate for social justice and change through sport.
