The Swedish Association of Sports Historians (SVIF) publishes a yearbook, Idrott, historia & samhälle (Sports, History & Society) which is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal of sport history, published in Sweden for the Scandinavian market and beyond. This annual publication publishes texts on Swedish, Nordic and international sports history written in Scandinavian languages or English. It addresses both researchers and a wider readership and strives to publish well-written texts of high scientific quality. The journal welcomes contributions relating to sport in a broad sense in relation to competition, physical culture, health, outdoor life, media, pedagogy, associational life, politics and society within humanities and social science subjects with a historical perspective.

Svenska idrottshistoriska föreningens (SVIF:s) årsskrift Idrott, historia & samhälle är ett vetenskapligt forum för idrottshistoria i Norden. ”Historia” kan tolkas brett och tidskriften välkomnar bidrag inom områden som rör sport, kroppskultur, hälsa, friluftsliv, media, genus och andra samhällsvetenskapliga och humanistiska ämnen med historiskt perspektiv. Sedan 2012 publiceras referentgranskade artiklar (”peer-review”) skrivna på skandinaviska språk eller engelska.

Submission of contributions for this year’s issue is now open. Sport, History & Society is a peer-reviewed academic publication of sport history, leisure and recreation seated in Sweden and Scandinavia. Its scope, however, goes beyond the borders of Scandinavia, and we publish articles in English as well as in Scandinavian languages. Sport, History and Society invites prospective authors from across the globe to contribute.
