This special issue of IJHS will explore historical factors that have made the Winter Olympic Games unique, special, or different from both summer sport festivals and other winter festivals. Moving beyond sport-specific histories, which abound for the sports of skiing and ice hockey, this special issue will consider the variety – and expanding list – of sports on the Winter Olympic Games program.

We are reaching out to you today to ask for your contribution to collecting data on programmes, courses, seminars and workshops offering Olympic content at and beyond university level (universities, Olympic Studies and Research Centres, National Olympic Academies, etc.).

Olympika: The International Journal of Olympic Studies invites scholarly papers, research notes, review articles, and other items relating to the historical, sociological, philosophical, anthropological, and management dimensions of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the Olympic Movement.

Olympika is the official peer-reviewed journal of the International Centre for Olympic Studies at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. It publishes scholarly research on the historical, sociological, philosophical, anthropological, and management dimensions of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Olympic Movement.

The CSSOR Program Committee invites high-quality academic work on either the Olympic Movement or broader sport studies topics such as race, gender, politics, legacy, youth, or disability., in all of its forms, from scholars in the fields of history, philosophy, communication, ancient and modern languages, literature, visual and performing arts, anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, economics, marketing, and law.

To further the momentum of using sport to build a better world as demonstrated by the joint march of North and South Korean athletes at the PyeongChang Games last February, the Olympism in Action Forum will bring together the Olympic Movement stakeholders and civil society at large to address challenging questions, open fresh dialogues and share innovative experiences and inspiring stories related to sport and society.

The CSSOR Program Committee invites high quality academic work on sport and the Olympic Games, in all of its forms, from scholars in the fields of history, philosophy, communication, ancient and modern languages, literature, visual and performing arts, anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, economics, marketing, and law.
