Proposed research papers focusing on broader sociocultural topics within sport are welcomed in addition to research specifically addressing the Olympic Movement. Scholars in the fields of history, philosophy, management, communication, ancient and modern languages, literature, visual and performing arts, anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, economics, marketing, and law are encouraged to submit proposals or attend the conference.

For this year’s NASSS conference – as we attempt to come together in-person in the spirit of inclusivity, togetherness and community – we welcome papers on any aspect of sport and physical culture as observed through a sociological lens. We would be particularly interested to receive submissions that explore sport and physical culture related to ideas around community, reconciliation, partnerships, relationships, equity, social inclusion, diversity, participation, and the indelible human spirit.

The current challenges of Nordic sport organizations, including gendered discrimination, racialization, homophobia and ableism, call upon innovative research that engages with the epistemologies and ontologies of sport, sex and gender. To address such complex issues interdisciplinary discussions are especially needed. The session invites papers engaging with contemporary tensions, challenges and potentials in Nordic sport.

The IACS Summit is the only stand-alone conference for communication researchers interested in exploring sport from diverse critical, methodological, theoretical, and multi-disciplinary perspectives. The Summit welcomes submissions from all methodological and theoretical perspectives. This year’s Summit will be hosted by Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, USA, with special events taking place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Nordic Sports History Network brings together researchers interested in sports history from the Nordic region. In collaboration with the Swedish Society for Sports History, we are now opening up for contributions to the 2021 meeting.The purpose of the conference is to present and discuss newly completed, ongoing and planned sports history projects targeting the Noridc context. Sports and history should be broadly interpreted.

This conference raises the question of how it will be possible to open up sport to everybody, regardless of the diversity of backgrounds, e.g. their gender, origin or social status, whether with or without disabilities, etc. Are there any examples we can learn from in an international context? What barriers for participation in sport and physical activity on an equal footing do still exist and how can they be broken down? How can underrepresented groups (e.g. women or persons with a LGBTIQ background) be specifically involved.

This panel seeks to explore the gaze that humanistic inquiry provides on soccer. What can the humanities tell us about soccer that social sciences, business, or sport studies cannot? The panel will contribute to defining how the humanities study a multifaceted and multicultural phenomenon such as soccer, which is deeply connected to several pressing contemporary matters—such as migration, national identities, and gender equality.

This is a call for proposals for the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport (IAPS) affiliated group session at the 2022 Pacific American Philosophical Association Meeting. It is set to take place in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, April 13–16, 2022. The call is for either a proposal to present a paper or a proposal for a set of thematically connected papers.

The 15th International Symposium for Olympic Research, has been rescheduled as a virtual Symposium. Scholars, researchers, students, and professionals interested in the socio-cultural study of the modern Olympic or Paralympic Games are invited to submit abstracts for conference presentations. Papers in the areas of history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, political science, cultural studies, and sport management are invited.

The theme of this congress is driven by several questions relating to the local and global production of knowledge in the sociology of sport, namely (1) What impact does our work have on a process of scientific circulation on a world scale? (2) What are the characteristics in our production of knowledge? (3) What can a Latin American country offer? These questions pushes the idea of the title, "Local and Global Challenges for Social Studies Of Sport in the 21st Century", as a challenge and invitation.
