Cricket like Bollywood is eulogized like a religion in South Asia and regarded as one of the most popular sports played in the region. Despite the popularity of the game and its ubiquitous relevance for the nation-states of South Asia, there has been a dearth of scholarly works to understand the game’s inexorable relationship with politics. This webinar is an effort to put the sports-politics nexus in South Asia on the global academic map.

This year marks the 40th year of the BSSH’s history and we are delighted to be teaming with the International Centre for Sports History and Culture (ICSHC) at De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, for this year’s conference. This will be an open themed conference. Submissions based on original research are welcomed from UK and overseas scholars. Papers can relate to any aspect of sport, physical recreation, education and culture, as considered from an historical perspective.

This annual international event brings together teachers, research fellows and PhD students of Universities and higher education institutions from the Baltic States and other countries. The conference offers a platform for participants to share and learn about the latest research findings and achievements and to build partnership networks for future research projects. Hopefully, the format of the conference encourages academic discussions and interaction between the participants and leading scientists invited to deliver keynote presentations.

It is well known that high-level international sport is an instrument of power, as seen right now in the sanctions on Russian sport after the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. We invite empirical, theoretical, and methodological papers from postgraduate students, early-career researchers, established academics and practitioners that address and interrogate, from a critical and global perspective, cultural, social, political, and experiential frameworks of sport.

We invite scholars, policymakers and practitioners to discuss emerging transformations, issues and potentials that concern gender and related topics in sport. While some problems persist, there are also new and undetected phenomena that configure gendered issues in sport in novel and unexpected ways. We encourage conference participants to propose how we may approach emerging problematics in research, policymaking and practice in the field of gender and sport.

The Scientific and Programme Committee of the 30th EASM European Sport Management Conference invites scholars and practitioners to submit abstracts to be considered for presentation. Additionally, we invite short papers to be considered for the EASM Best Conference Paper Award 2022 and for the ESMQ New Researcher Award 2022 for young scientific scholars. Reviewers contributing to assessing and progressing colleagues’ work in an excellent manner will be awarded with the EASM Best Conference Reviewer Award 2022.

Competition and collaboration are two essential dimensions for the culture of sport and physical education. Instances can be identified since the Antiquity. Given the essential dimension of competition and collaboration and the learning, teaching and training processes, there is a need for in-depth historical analysis of these two dimensions and of their effects on society. 

The Organising Committee of the 1st Nordic Football Conference invites scholars, practitioners, and students from across the Nordic countries and around the world to submit abstracts that explore the conference's core areas of (1) Coaching and player development, (2) Contemporary issues in football culture, and (3) The global football system. In addition, two overarching themes, (a) Sustainability and (b) Evidence-based practices run concurrently to form the backbone of the event.

As European football continues to expand into new global territories, emergent debates concerning the future of the game have revealed new questions, new challenges, and new opportunities to those studying the politics, culture, economics, and sociology of the game in all its different forms. We would also like to extend an invitation to scholars working within the field of critical football studies to submit papers that speak to emerging debates.

The aim of this workshop is threefold: Co-theorize the concept of Small worlds of Football to capture a wider comparative scope of such a research project; to share and workshop the accepted papers submitted to the workshop; and work towards a publication: either publish an Edited Volume or a Special Issue (we are in early conversation with the International Journal of History of Sports).
