The results of this thesis by Amanda Ek have a clinical impact. Asking patients on a cardiac infirmary ward about their physical activity level and sedentary time may identify individuals in need of behavioural changes. By identifying and supporting individuals who need to increase their PA level, clinicians may potentially decrease the utilisation of inpatient care and also lower the risk of all-cause mortality among individuals with cardiovascular disease.

Instituttets forskningsvirksomhet er konsentrert om fem hovedområder; fysisk aktivitet og helse; kvinner, trening og helse; forebygging av idrettsskader; aktiv rehabilitering av muskel-skjelettlidelser samt fitness.
