Welcome to the International Symposium “Evidence-based practices for elite sport”. The Symposium will take place on November 2–4, 2022, at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The Symposium is organized by the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences in collaboration with the Finnish Institute of High Performance Sport KIHU and the Scandinavian Network for Elite Sport.

The symposium programme consists of dozens of presentations by top sports scientists from Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Participants will hear about the latest research in sports coaching and their practical applications. The main themes of this year’s multidisciplinary symposium are athlete growth and development, strength training, nutrition, team sports, sports technology and skills training.

What are recent innovations in winter sports technology? What questions arising today in sports nutrition and strength training? How to become world-class athlete in social science perspective? What is the current understanding athlete development from childhood to top-level athlete? What are best practices in team sport coaching? How to support transgender athletes’ participation in elite sport?
