Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw

Sociology of Sport Section at Polish Sociological Association and Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw are pleased to invite you to Warsaw in November this year.

The dynamic of the sports world depends on, among others things, social actors’ (individual, collective, institutional) activities. We welcome abstracts concerned with the main conference theme, such as the functioning of coaches, referees, officials, sports journalists, activists, sports consumers (and other social actors in sport) on local, national and international levels. The analysis should not be limited to a particular type of sport (amateur or professional), sports discipline or theoretical perspective. In other words, we look for a broad range of theoretical perspectives on sport and for sharing discussions on relevant issues. The social actors in sports have their own goals, motives, patterns of behavior and problems which are mutually affecting each other. We believe that it is worth exploring and elaborating on those patterns of interactions. The main theme of conference gives the opportunity to analyze classical domains of research concerned with sport and society as well as emerging fields, including (but not limited to):
