Dear all,
Not much to show for a full week’s work, is it? But there are things going ion in the background. I am still using quite a lot of time to find reviewers for a growing pile of new (and some old) books – successfully at times, less so other times, but one has to stay at it.
I am also preparing a couple of articles for publication, one peer review piece for the Scandinavian Sport Studies Forum (SSSF), and one for idrottsforum.org. And a second SSSF article is reportedly on its way in.
Last week the following items were published on idrottsforum.org (see below; language and publication dates, YYMMDD, in brackets). Click on the red headings to go to content. Utilize the Google Translate service to turn Scandinavian language pages into (some sort of) English.
Have a great week,
Kjell Eriksson

Book Review
The History and Politics of Sport-for-Development: Activists, Ideologues and Reformers, by Simon C. Darnell, Russell Fields & Bruce Kidd
In The History and Politics of Sport-for-Development: Activists, Ideologues and Reformers (Palgrave Macmillan), authors Simon C. Darnell, Russell Field and Bruce Kidd focus on the major social and political forces that have shaped the ways in which sport has been understood, organized, and contested in an effort to engender social change. In his appreciative review, Derrick Charwell recommends this book for anyone interested in learning about the interaction between the history of sport and international development. (Review in English, published 230207.)
Referees, Match Officials and Abuse: Research and Implications for Policy, by Tom Webb, Mike Rayner, Jamie Cleland & Jimmy O’Gorman
In Referees, Match Officials and Abuse: Research and Implications for Policy (Routledge), authors Tom Webb, Mike Rayner, Jamie Cleland & Jimmy O’Gorman explore issues related to the abuse of referees and match officials in sport, based on original empirical research. Our reviewer is idrottsforum.org founder Bo Carlsson, who gained insights from the chapters describing and analyzing the problem while remaining slightly skeptical about the proposed measures. (Review in English, published 230210.)
