Book Reviews

Idrottsdidaktik för lärar- och tränarutbildningar [Sports didactics for teachers and coaches], by Katarina Schenker

Sports didactics for teachers and coaches by Katarina Schenker (Liber) focuses on the sports didactic reflection. How to think? What to do? Why is it important to take time to reflect on didactic decisions? We asked Andreas Schiørring, who himself practices and does research in the area, for a review. He is impressed by the book, which he believes lives up to the author’s lofty ambitions – and it is at its best when read from cover to cover. (Book in Swedish, review in Danish, published 230213.)

Pedagogies of Social Justice in Physical Education and Youth Sport, by Shrehan Lynch, Jennifer L. Walton-Fisette & Carla Luguetti

Pedagogies of Social Justice in Physical Education and Youth Sport by Shrehan Lynch, Jennifer L. Walton-Fisette & Carla Luguetti (Routledge) offers an overview of contemporary debates in social justice and equity within youth sport in and outside of school. As a sport pedagogy professor, Karin Redelius is well placed for a review. She finds the book to be thin and thick – few but dense pages, providing a rich and pedagogical introduction to the concept of social justice in the physical education context. (Review in English published 230215.)
