The last decade has seen an upsurge in female participation in sport, with girls and women becoming more visible as participants at grassroots level and celebrated for their competitive achievements at elite level.  However, it is true to say that female equality in sport has not yet been achieved. It is also well known that girls and women have not always found it easy to pursue their sporting aspirations.

Women tend to be overlooked when it comes to research within sport and exercise. We, therefore, wish to virtually connect individuals from a range of disciplines to ensure that sport and exercise research has a focus on women, especially during COVID-19 and beyond. This conference will be a platform of networking opportunities to connect with others in sport and exercise to boost confidence, training and motivation through knowledge gained via others’ research and experience.

The aim of this conference is to provide a platform for the knowledge exchange between scholars (from a range of disciplines), stakeholders, and practitioners who are united by a focus on sports media. The event will take stock of the current position by examining notable case studies from the recent past, and aims to foster new inter- and/or post-disciplinary trajectories and scholarship/practitioner collaborations.

This book will present an overview of the increasing shift within global, elite-level women’s sport to move towards professionalisation.  Each case study included in the collection will highlight the complex, multi-faceted and at times problematic nature of women’s involvement in professional sport.  The collection will pay attention to the intersectional nature of women’s varied experiences in professional spor.

This volume defines strength sports as activities in which the competition outcomes depend exclusively on the individual capacity to move weight. We are seeking submissions across disciplines and thus, from a variety of vantage points, this edited volume will map the ideological landscape of strength sports to understand its potential for insurgent gender practices and the importance for studying sport for feminist social change.

There are countless stories of women who have challenged social expectations to accomplish great things in the arts, humanities, medicine, science, sports, politics and the military. Ephemera 40 will focus on the accomplishments of such women around the world and over the centuries contributions to society that have all too often been overlooked.

The aim of this special issue is to showcase high-quality research related to marketing and women's professional sport. We hope the content will span varied dimensions of marketing and professional sport contexts from countries around the world. This call covers a broad range of marketing topics within the context of women's professionalism and emerging professionalism.

In line with the scope of WSPAJ, an essential element of any submitted manuscript should be to further thought, theory, and research on women in sport. We are particularly interested in articles that further advocacy, thought, theory, and research on women sport coaches. To that end, we welcome qualitative, quantitative and mixed method research submissions that address the pertinent issues.

Titillating or tortuous, appealing or atrocious, skimpy or serious, the uniforms that sportswomen wear have long been under scrutiny. Emphasizing the language of sport, proposals are invited for this edited volume with a working title of Uniformly discussed: Sportswomen’s apparel, with Palgrave Macmillan as a probable publisher.

The Empower Conference combines fresh thinking with the latest research. With a number of keynote speakers, a choice of afternoon “in focus” sessions, plus the release of Women in Sport’s new research into the visibility of women’s sport in the media, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to learn, discuss and network with peers from the sports and media sectors.
