Call for Papers | “Sport, Power and Politics: Challenges in a changing global structure”, PSA Sport and Politics Study Group, Second International Conference | University of Aveiro, Portugal, June...

It is well known that high-level international sport is an instrument of power, as seen right now in the sanctions on Russian sport after the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. We invite empirical, theoretical, and methodological papers from postgraduate students, early-career researchers, established academics and practitioners that address and interrogate, from a critical and global perspective, cultural, social, political, and experiential frameworks of sport.

We particularly welcome abstracts from PhD students, early-career researchers and established academics whose research sheds critical light on the global opportunities, challenges and/or threats currently facing contemporary sport.

Call for Papers | “Sport and the Politics of Identity”. 13th Annual PSA Sport & Politics Conference | Aston University, Friday, March 29, 2019. Call ends February 15, 2019

The date of the conference coincides with the day the UK is set to leave the European Union. We would especially welcome papers that explore the potential impact of Brexit on sport and its role in the wider politics of identity in the UK and Europe. However, the conference is not restricted to neither Brexit nor UK sport-politics. Submissions that deal with all aspects of sport, politics and identity, from all relevant disciplines, are welcome.
