The Sport and Leisure History Seminar is organised by the British Society of Sports History in association with the journal Sport in History. We have a varied programme of speakers from postgraduate researchers to leading specialists in the field of sport and leisure history from the UK and around the world. All welcome – these seminars are online via Zoom, and are free to attend, but advance registration is required.

This is an open themed conference. Submissions based on original research are welcomed from UK and overseas scholars and can relate to any aspect of sport, physical recreation, education and culture, as considered from an historical perspective. We are committed to sharing ideas, information and a passion for the study of the history of sport in a wide range of historical settings, and invite you to join us in these efforts.

Submission of contributions for this year’s issue is now open. Sport, History & Society is a peer-reviewed academic publication of sport history, leisure and recreation seated in Sweden and Scandinavia. Its scope, however, goes beyond the borders of Scandinavia, and we publish articles in English as well as in Scandinavian languages. Sport, History and Society invites prospective authors from across the globe to contribute.

This course aims to provide a unique environment for PhD students who seek to develop skills around sport history, and to improve their network in the field. Lectures given by leading experts will cover specific methodological aspects and new issues in the field of sport history. Participants will also have the opportunity to present and discuss their own research in specific sessions.
