    Announcing PhD Course: Culture, Sport and Society | Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sport (NEXS), University of Copenhagen, November 11–15, 2024

    The course will emphasize how the individual doctoral student can improve their scientific skills in order to carry out their own research projects and participate in public and academic debates in relation to sport studies, thereby offering the potential to have a significant impact upon society. The course is particularly intended to stimulate ethical, innovative and creative perspectives on sport and culture, while at the same time realizing the responsibility and autonomy of being a researcher.

    Sport Scholar Profile | Antti Laine, University of Jyväskylä

    Antti Laine works as a Senior researcher and lecturer in sport sociology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. His research interests focus mainly on sport media, private sport sector (e.g. ice hockey and fitness) and sport as a societal phenomenon. Dr Laine has published numerous articles and acted as an editor in academic publications.

    The positions are not a part of a specific project, but are connected to the research group’s strategic areas of focus in social science: sports psychology, sports sociology, sport pedagogy and physical education, physical activity level in the population, and the importance of gender in physical education, sport, and physical activity.
