Scholars, researchers, students and professionals interested in the sociocultural study of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games are invited to submit abstracts for conterence presentations. Papers in the areas of history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, political science, cultural studies and sport management, as well as other disciplines that contribute to the cultural understanding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, are particularly encouraged. Proposals for thematic sessions are also invited.

We call for research papers related to the business, management and economics of the Olympic Games in general, the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games. Papers about Olympic media, legacy, tourism, eSport consumers, organizations, finance, economics, environment, Paralympics, Youth Olympic Games, politics and other Olympic-related topics are welcome. A special workshop will be offered about topics related to sport ethics and integrity.

The CSSOR Program Committee welcomes high quality academic work on sport studies topics such as race, gender, politics, legacy, youth, or disability. Proposed research papers focusing on broader sociocultural topics within sport are welcomed in addition to research specifically addressing the Olympic Movement. Scholars in the fields of, for instance, history, philosophy, management, communication, ancient and modern languages, literature, and law are encouraged to submit proposals or attend the conference.

This special issue seeks to explore such complexities and environmental issues surrounding the Games. We welcome theoretical, empirical, and conceptual submissions from a broad range of disciplines (history, sociology, anthropology, environmental studies, philosophy). While broad, we hope this special issue will capture the array of connections between climate change, physical culture, and the Olympics.

Call for Papers | “Images of the Olympic Games”, Special Issue of Materiales para la Historia del Deporte | Call ends January 31, 2023

This special issue – directed by Pierre-Olaf Schut, University Professor and Marion Philippe, Lecturer, both from the ACP laboratory of the Gustave Eiffel University (France), aims to propose a reflection on the polysemy of the word “image” as part of a historical reflection on the Olympic Games. Indeed, the word “image” can be considered from a figurative angle but also as a representation.

We are pleased to inform you that the 2023/2025 edition of the Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme has been launched. For this edition, we are inviting the academic community to submit proposals related to at least one of the 10 IOC priority fields grouped in the following 4 main themes: Athlete safeguarding, mental health and wellbeing; Ethics and integrity; Gender equality; and Olympism 365 – Development through sport and sport’s contribution to the sustainable development goals.
