Bloomsbury Academic have commissioned the Handbook of Language and Sport. Through this handbook, readers will get a state-of-the-art account of the research missions, methodological approaches, the settings or domains of language use being studied, social issues in sport in which language is implicated, and the application of linguistic research to the world of sport that have emerged as foundational to this area of research. We also consider the future of research in this space that scholars might pursue.

This event will showcase new research and work-in-progress investigating the role of language in shaping our understanding of gender and sexuality in sports contexts. It aims to critically interrogate the discourses that create, sustain and challenge inequalities within this field. We welcome contributions from a wide range of disciplines that tie into the theme of the one-day conference.

Hanna Söderlund forskar om förhandlingar av maktpositioner och kön i skidsport på tv. Det som undersöks är hur kvinnliga och manliga idrottare och experter kan förhandla sig till starka maktpositioner i tv-sändningar från skid-VM I Lahti. Tidigare har hon forskat om hur kvinnliga och manliga komiker kan förhandla sig till starka maktpositioner i tv-programmet Parlamentet på TV4.
