Veal’s and Simon Darcy’s Research Methods in Sport Studies and Sport Management: A Practical Guide (Routledge) is still considered an essential companion for any sport-related degree course. Klara Boije af Gennäs explains why by noting the pedagogical design – test questions, case studies, etc – as well as its both theoretical and practical orientation. She is less happy with the insufficient elaborations on qualitative methods and the unfortunate placing of references.

Horse- and riding-related injuries among youth riders in Sweden
In this feature article, Klara Boije af Gennäs presents her Ph.D. project at Malmö University Her main concern is the prevalence and severity of injuries in youth equestrian sports, and not only acute injuries from riding accidents but also overuse injuries resulting from hard labor in the stable. Applying a multi- and interdisciplinary research approach as well as a mix of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, her aim is to extend and strengthen the understanding of stable- and riding injuries among youth equestrians.

Klara Boije af Gennäs is a doctoral student in sport science at Malmo University since September 2021. She is part of the doctoral school Learning in Multicultural Societal Contexts. She holds a BA in Sports Coaching and a MA from Gothenburg University. Klara’s research aims to increase the knowledge on sport related injuries in adolescents. She focuses on equestrian sport injuries using an interdisciplinary research approach combining sociology, sports medicine, and media and communication.
Sport in a changing world – rapport från SVEBI-konferensen 2022
Efter att ha skjutits upp flera gånger på grund av pandemin kunde den årliga konferensen för Svensk Förening för Beteende- och Samhällsvetenskaplig Idrottsforskning (SVEBI) till slut genomföras den 14–15 juni 2022. Då samlades forskare och idrottsorganisationer från hela Sverige på Malmö universitet för att delta och utbyta forskningsresultat.
