    Esports, also known as organized competitive gaming, has evolved from an underground culture into a mainstream industry worth billions of dollars today. The goal of this Research Topic is to collect manuscripts that investigate broader facets of esports to advance our current knowledge in both theory and practice of esports. Manuscripts of all methodological approaches including conceptual papers will be considered for publication. Inter-disciplinary research is encouraged.

There is a lot of interest in understanding how artificial intelligence and big data can be harnessed in sports marketing activities. Social media, as a new marketing communication platform, is upsetting traditional marketing practices, and brand owners are still learning how to use it effectively.

    The aim of this special issue is to initiate a broader debate about the digital transformation in sport management research. This debate involves discussing where and how digital disruption radically changes existing sport business models, how economic value is created in digital sport ecosystems and why general digital business strategies might fail in sport management and how they should be adapted.

    Second Call for Chapters | Digital Football Cultures | Eds. Stefan Lawrence and Garry Crawford

    The proposed focus of the book will be on a range of conceptual and theoretical issues in football, especially those that emerge from or have been exacerbated by the digital turn. Each chapter should be guided by a theoretical framework and will address at least one of the following themes: Digital football fandom; Football and social media; Football (sub)cybercultures.
