Call for Participation | Sport and Physical Activity policy, politics and practice in Scotland | Free CCSE webinar, April 22, 2026, 15:00–16:00 CEST
In this session David Meir and Kirsty Mackay will collaboratively outline previous and current policy approaches to reducing physical inactivity. David will share his research findings from his recent Scottish Parliament Fellowship that explored barriers and potential policy solutions to physical inactivity. David will also present recent research findings regarding intersectional inequalities, developing inclusive environments, implementing a systems-based approach to policy enactment and analysing policy through different frameworks e.g., the sociology of luck.

CCSE Talks is back, and our first free online seminar for 2025 will be on Wednesday 26th of February from 1-2pm (GMT). Our two speakers, Barbara Grabher an Nourhan Bassam will talk on the theme “Inclusive events: gender, placemaking & human-environmental relationships”.
Call for Participation | Human Rights Impacts of the Olympic Games and the Necessity of Reform – CCSE Online Talks 3 | November 27, 2024, 2–3pm CET
This event, following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, brings together actors working on local and global scale to consider the future of mega-events. In particular, the debate will focus on some of the challenges associated with contemporary mega-events and why change is necessary. We will then move into a discussion of radical solutions for how they should change in the future – including whether such events should continue to exist at all. Finally, we will discuss the role of civil society in pushing for this change and how we can all contribute to developing more sustainable mega-events.
