New editorial team and structure of Scandinavian Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology (press release 2021-05-25)

The purpose of SJSEP is to collect and disseminate knowledge and experience between researchers, practitioners, coaches and others with an interest in sport and exercise psychology. We have successfully done so for two years now. As the journal has grown in popularity, we are now ready to transition into a new phase.

New structure and a new award

The new structure, with two editors in chiefs – one for exercise and one for sport psychology – alongside four associate editors will allow us to provide a faster and more personalized experience for authors.

We further introduce a new award. Best master theses publications. We call for excellent master students to write their thesis in the form of a scientific paper and submit it for this special section. Each year, we will select and award two master thesis submissions. The award winners will have their articles published and receive a certificate. This initiative will provide an opportunity for young researchers to get a feel for the peer-review process and make SJSEP an outlet for some of the excellent studies done by master students each year.

Scandinavian countries provide a particular context for sport and exercise psychology due to the Scandinavian welfare model that provides different living and sporting conditions compared to many other countries. Research conducted in this context is unique but can inspire the world. Our new editorial team will ensure an outlet to share Scandinavian research with the rest of the world.
