bob-heereThe University of South Carolina Department of Sport and Entertainment Management is excited to announce that they have reached an agreement with FiT Publishing to re-launch the Journal of Venue and Event Management as a new journal, titled Sport & Entertainment Review (SER).

Sport & Entertainment Review will allow for a broader scope of topics published in the journal, as well as emphasizing many forms of the growing entertainment industry, such as live performance, theater, music, film and arts. It will allow for a bigger synergy between the journal and the annual conference Sport & Entertainment Venues Today hosted by USC and Venues Today.

The re-launch will not only change the scope of the journal, but also its format. Consequently, we would like to invite scholars to submit theory driven proposals (500-750 words) that would allow them to review their overall line of research and how their research impacts other academics and/or the sport and entertainment industry. Submissions should not focus around a single study, but rather reflect back upon the overall line of research of the author(s) and others, driven by the same theoretical concept(s). Please see submission guidelines in the attachment for more details.

In preparation of the re-launch, SER has recruited an entirely new international Editorial Board, with board members from the United States, Canada, England, Northern Ireland, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, to accommodate the international focus of the journal and encourage submissions from all over the world for both sport and entertainment (Second attachment).

The first issue of SER is scheduled for Spring 2015 and the deadline to submit a proposal for the first issue is September 1, 2014. For questions, please contact editor Bob Heere by mail or at 803–777-9679, or associate editor Chad Seifried by mail or at 814-571-5409.

Review of proposals will begin immediately. Proposals can be submitted directly to Bob Heere through email. We expect the website to be up and running by June 2014, we’ll send out another notice then.

With warm regards,
