    Call for Presentations | The 2025 Global Sport Business Association (GSBA) Cruise Conference | Royal Caribbean’s “Independence of the Seas” cruise ship, February 21–24, 2025. Call ends August 31, 2024

    Interested scholars and practitioners are invited to submit sport business research proposals for consideration as either an oral (15 min) or poster presentation. Submissions will be accepted May 1 – August 31, 2024. All submissions received by August 31 will be given priority review. Completed research studies are invited as well as works in progress, to be completed by the conference date. Proposal submissions should be based on original work not previously presented at another conference or under consideration for another conference. Both oral and poster submissions should be in the form of a 250–350 word abstract (excluding references) including a title page containing the list of authors, their affiliations, and the lead author contact information and identify which conference track (Sport Business or Entrepreneurship & Innovation). The submissions for consideration should be sent to GSBAssn@yahoo.com as a Word document attachment.

    New in 2025

      • Tracks:
          1. Sport Business (includes marketing, management, finance, economics, event/venue management, accounting, recreation management, sport management/marketing pedagogy etc.)
          2. Entrepreneurship & Innovation (including small business, start up, social entrepreneurship, sport innovation, sport tech, entrepreneurship pedagogy, etc.)
      • Doctoral/Early Career Consortium – providing training and career guidance for graduate students and junior faculty.
      • All abstracts will be published in the conference special issue of the Global Sports Business Journal.
      • Best Paper (one per track) will be given automatic consideration for the conference special issue of the Global Sports Business Journal. All submissions are automatically considered for Best Paper Award.

    The conference will be held in the Bahamas aboard Royal Caribbean’s “Independence of the Seas.” The ship will sail from the Port of Miami on Friday, February 21, with stops in Coco Cay (Saturday) and Nassau (Sunday), returning to Miami on Monday, February 24.

    The lead author or one of the secondary authors must register for the conference (including the booking of her/his room) no later than September 30, 2024. All rooms/rates are double occupancy. Failure to register for the conference by that date may result in the submission being withdrawn. A limited number of oral presentations and poster presentations will be accepted. Once the conference schedule is arranged, a wait-list will be created in the event a submission is withdrawn or cancelled. All conference attendees must register for the conference and book their rooms at the conference website. Onsite conference registration will not be available.

      • Two Grant Opportunities
        • Graduate Student & Junior Faculty Research Grant – must be untenured (can be non-tenure track) ($800)
        • GSBA Research Grant – any rank or position ($800)
      • Submission Guidelines:
        • Proposals should be submitted to GSBAssn@yahoo.com
        • 2 page maximum (excluding references)
        • Outlines a research project to be completed utilizing the funds
        • Automatic acceptance in GSBA 2026 to present findings from study
