Call for Papers | “Use of Technology within the Practice of Applied Sport Psychology” | Special issue of Journal of Sport Psychology in Action (call ends 2017-09-15)

A special issue of the Journal of Sport Psychology in Action (JSPA) will be published with a focus upon the use of technology within the practice of applied sport psychology.

This special issue will be co-guest edited by Prof. Jack Watson and Dr. Ashley Cranney, and is anticipated to publish in August 2018, with initial drafts of articles due by September 15, 2017. With this goal in mind, this message serves as a call for authors to submit their articles on this topic.

This special issue will accept any articles that relate to the use of technology within the practice of applied sport psychology. Some topics to consider might include:

    • well contextualized case studies;
    • articles introducing the effective use of technology as a tool for improved applied practice within sport or other performance domains;
    • projective articles of practitioners relative to their perceptions of how technology may be used to enhance the provision of services in the future;
    • articles outlining the use of technology to better supervise and train their students to become effective practitioners;
    • articles outlining the legal and ethical issues influencing the use of technology within the practice of applied sport psychology; and
    • articles outlining the use of technology for purposes of assessment.

Submission Instructions

  • For informal inquiries, the authors can contact the editors Jack C. Watson II or Ashley Cranney to seek further information.
  • Articles should be prepared in full accord with the submission guidelines of JSPAand authors must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th Edition).
  • Submissions should be made no later than September 15, 2017 via the JSPA electronic submission portal.
  • Authors MUST select: “Special Issue Technology in Sport Psychology” at the “Article Type” step of the submission process.
  • All articles will be peer reviewed and revised no later than November 15, 2017 following JSPA‘s normal processes.
  • Final decisions will be made by the journal’s editor in chief. Publication of this special issue is projected for August 2018.
