The Sport Anthropology Caucus (SAC) invites interested scholars to submit abstracts for its third edition, held during the 2024 North American Society for Sport History (NASSH) conference in Denver, Colorado (Hyatt Regency Denver), between May 24 and 27, 2024. For the past three years, SAC has worked diligently to recruit anthropologists from around the world to share their research with the NASSH community. This year, SAC is set to continue growing a community of anthropologists of sport by aligning itself with the International Network of Sport Anthropology (INSA), a global network of scholars committed to promoting the growth of the field and creating spaces for scholars to collaborate on projects. This year’s Caucus will be divided into three sessions: 20-minute panel presentations, a roundtable discussion, and a keynote lecture. The roundtable discussion will be an identical session to that hosted at the INSA Conference at Durham University in April 2024. The topic for the roundtable discussion will be “define sport from an anthropological perspective.” This call is for participation in the session for panel presentations.

If you are interested in presenting your work, submit a 200-300 word abstract to Tom Fabian (tom.fabian@ucd.ie) and Sean Seiler (sean.seiler@uga.edu). The deadline to submit an abstract is January 29, 2024 by 11:59 PM EST. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Tom or Sean.
