It is with great pleasure that we announce that the date and location have been set for the upcoming International Centre for Olympic Studies’ (ICOS) 17th International Symposium for Olympic and Paralympic Research.
As in the most recent edition that coincided with the Paris 2024 Games, ICOS is once again partnering with an institution within the same country as the Game’s host city to deliver this unique forum providing an unrivaled interdisciplinary exploration of Olympic and Paralympic related research.
Participation in past ICOS symposia by members of the sport management community has increased in recent editions. As a crucial element of contemporary sport discourse, we hope that this tradition can continue at the upcoming event.
Call for Abstracts and Proposals for Thematic Sessions
Scholars, researchers, students and professionals interested in the sociocultural study of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games are invited to submit abstracts for conference presentations.
Papers in the areas of history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, political science, cultural studies and sports management. as well as other disciplines that contribute to the cultural understanding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, are particularly encouraged. Proposals for thematic sessions are also invited.
The deadline for abstract submission is October 31, 2025. Contributors will be notified about the status of their abstracts by December 15, 2025. Please submit all abstracts and proposals to aoldham2@uwo.ca.
