About this Research Topic

In the domain of competitive sport, the systematic way of studying the practice and methodological issues related to coaches, athletes, sports scientists, and technical officials is vital for the safety and sustainable development of the sport. With the popularity of Internet of Things, virtual society, and social media platforms, opportunities emerge to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sports training and promotion of the sport to the general public. Yet, the above tools and platforms may also posit challenges to the physical and psychological well-being of the keyholders, such as influence on emotion, perceived stress, and anxiety. To illustrate the urgency of this research agenda, it is not uncommon to witness cases in the media related to professional athletes facing mental health challenges during and after important sports events in recent years.

This Research Topic aims to look at the special themes related to interdisciplinary study related but not limited to cognitive sports functions, injury prevention, memory and conformity biases in judging, mental well-being, motion capturing technique, social network, sports performance, and well-being. With the collection of cutting-edge research findings, we would like to help the social practitioners, coaches, and sport administrators understand the opportunities and challenges of developing the competitive sport in the digital era with empirical evidence.

This Research Topic intends to invite practitioners and scholars to publish their latest findings in the following areas:
