Dear all,
Permit me to serve you a small amount of statistics. During last year, 2021, no less than 2,831 articles were downloaded as pdf files from the idrottsforum.org website, including both articles published on idrottsforum.org and peer reviewed articles published in Scandinavian Sport Studies Forum.
At the top of the list of idrottsforum.org articles is “Motivasjonsteori som utgangspunkt for å skape et best mulig læringsmiljø i kroppsøving” [Motivation theory as basis for an optimal learning environment in PE] by Arne Martin Jakobsen, published in Norwegian 121010. Most downloaded Scandinavian Sport Studies Forum article was “Klassresenärer i gymnastiksalen: En analys av de studenter som tog examen från Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolans kvinnliga gymnastiklärarkurs 1972” [Social climbers in the gymnasium: An analysis of the female students who graduated from the Swedish School of Sports Science’s gymnastics teacher course in 1972] by Hans Bolling & Leif Yttergren, published in Swedish 210309.
Last week the following items were published on idrottsforum.org (see below; language and publication dates, YYMMDD, in brackets). Click on the red headings to go to content. Utilize the Google Translate service to turn Scandinavian language pages into (some sort of) English.
Have a great week,

Sport in a changing world – rapport från SVEBI-konferensen 2022
(Published in Swedish 220920.
Book Review
Running, Identity and Meaning: The Pursuit of Distinction Through Sport by Neil Baxter
In his new book Running, Identity and Meaning: The Pursuit of Distinction Through Sport (Emerald), Neil Baxter showcases how gender, class, age and ethnicity influence whether and how different groups participate in the sport, and explores its role in the reproduction of social structure and the search for distinction. While noting a narrow British perspective, on balance our reviewer Lise Joern is impressed by the author’s effort and warmly recommends the book. (Review in English, published 220922.)
