Book Reviews
Idrettsteknologi [Sports technology], by Anne Tjønndal

Technological advances affect sports in various ways. Anne Tjønndal’s Idrettsteknologi (Fagbokforlaget) shows how the sporting world is faced with new opportunities and challenges as a result of technological changes. Anna Åberg sees the difficulties in treating such a vast subject in a short book, but while in parts descriptive, other parts are quite analytical, and Tjønndal succeeds in bringing the many aspects together to form a solid foundation for classroom conversations around this complex issue. (Book in Norwegian, review in English, published 231101.)
Lidenskab og livskvalitet gennem idræt [Passion and quality of life through sports], by Rasmus Bysted Møller & Jan Kahr Sørensen (eds.)

In Rasmus Bysted Møller’s and Jan Kahr Sørensen’s anthology Lidenskab og life-quality gennem idræt (Aarhus Universitetsforlag), sports researchers and practitioners tell how different sports can make a positive difference in people’s lives, despite the demands of great effort. We asked Anders Östnäs to read and review the book, which was published already in 2019. He finds several examples of how sport can instill passion and increased quality of life and, in the best case, increase social motivation and experiences of “flow” and joy. (Book in Danish, review in Swedish, published 231103.)
