Putting it mildly, I had great, yes even grand, expectations of being able to get back quickly from the medical intervention I mentioned in my last newsletter – it referred to a colon cancer operation that took place on March 14. I expected to be able to get to work the day after, with my laptop in the hospital bed. Well! I would certainly not refer to it as delusions of grandeur, rather as an expression of embarrassing naiveté as to the probable effects of bowel surgery. I won’t delve further into these issues; suffice it to say that somewhat against the odds the outcome was successful – great surgeons – but I came out of it feeling bruised on body and mind.
Anyway, as it turned out nothing was published last week – well, maybe one Call, but that will be included in next week’s letter. What I have in front of me for the very near future is a lot, including two peer review articles, a number of book reviews, dozens of new scholarly journal issues and a few Calls and other news items as well. A job of work.
I imagine that I’ll get up to normal speed in the next few days, but until then, please bear with me.
Dear Kjell,
I am very happy for the surgery success. I hope you recover quickly, and wish you all the best.
Take care, and the best regards come from your Norwegian colleagues.
